Hi Readers,

My name is Aliyah Carter and I'm the VP here at Givewrite. I never in my life thought I'd ever be in this position, but for some reason I've been called. I've lived a life full of many ups and downs and have been pretty private about it all, but this time I'd like to take you all with me. I'll try to be as transparent as possible to share what it takes to help build something great.

Over the last 9 months I've learned so many life lessons in this position. Like many of us I followed the rules, did good in school, had a decent job, the house, friends and still didn't feel fullfilled. When one doesn't have joy or meaning within themself, everyone you interact will feel that energy. So how do you change that mindset? For me it has been learning to serve others. Everyday I've been fortunate to help volunteer and learn new skills to help support our partners. I'm very grateful and I have no doubt that this work has saved my life because it has brought me so much meaning.

Since I started I've been doing things in the background to help update processes. I've learned how to use Canva to create flyers, landing pages, proposals and oh my goodness some days would be so exhausting because the details are really hard for me to concentrate on. But I've pulled through and made some things I'm proud of. All through this though our Founder, Tim has been kicking butt for the last decade building the foundation of this company. Reaching out to print shops, IT, sponsors, nonprofits and working with our COO Brandon to get the site looking fantastic. But sometimes in life you've got to step out from the background and show up, even if you're scared. DO IT SCARED! 

So you're gonna see me out there. Being awkward, funny, and strong because I believe that through community so much is possible. I hope together we can create, connect and GiveWrite!
